While 500 yards may not seem like a long distance to you, for a first time shooter, this is a pretty good distance.

Back in October, Gammy and I went to a yearly gathering in Texas.

There was a rifle range set up so people could practice shooting at distance. Most people routinely shoot rifles at targets 100 or 200 yards away.

This range was set up at 100, 300, 400 and 500 yards.

There were several people there who had never shot anything before. After about a 15 minute block of instruction, these novices were making metal targets sing from 500 yards.

It was a beautiful thing to behold.
