I hadn't thought about it before I got out of the army but as time went by I discovered little by little that people are generally a herd of sheep.

Not one huge herd, but lots of little ones. There are herds of sports fans, church communities, music groupies, any kind of herd you can think of. There is overlap in a lot of these like in a Venn diagram. The middle of this diagram is, I think, the belief in main stream media and politics.

Few people try to escape this part of their herd by educating themselves.

How bad do things have to get before they finally scatter?
