Get your beer while you still can

Apparently stupidity has finally come to the small Midwestern area in which I live.

Gammy and I really don't follow the news as in MSM. We we lean more toward American Thinker and  World Net Daily et al.  We don't watch broadcast TV. We don't watch cable. We take neither newspapers nor magazines. We don't listen to commercial radio.

We do watch Turner Classic Movies even though we can't stand some of the hosts. We do watch documentaries of our choosing through Amazon Prime and YouTube. I listen to Bott Radio Network on the way to and from work. There are a few channels on bitchute that I watch frequently.

We are not uninformed. We merely aren't buying into the hype, misinformation and disinformation being foisted upon the public.

Today I went to Schnuck's - a Midwestern grocery chain - on my way home this afternoon. My needs were simple. I required only coffee and cream. I didn't pay much attention to what else was or was not on the shelf. I was on a mission.

I did see that the coffee pickings were slim but they did have Folger's Black Silk way on the back of the shelf.

There was very little real dairy in the dairy case. I think there were 2 quarts of heavy cream of which I took one. There was no milk. No skim. No 2%. No whole milk. There was, however, fake milk: soy, almond, oat, etc. (You do realize that milk is only produced by mammals.)

I'd heard there was no toilet paper there or at the Walmart. That made absolutely no difference to me. I had picked up our bimonthly supply a few days ago at Dollar General.

Yesterday I went to the corner store to get a drink and a candy bar. The people in there were talking about the IGA meat case being completely wiped out. Hmm.

We tend to eat some things that many people would consider survival food: ramen, Spam, Vienna sausage. We are both veterans and have eaten much worse fare in Korea and Iraq. We always have these things on hand.

There was a guy in line at the store with four 30 packs of beer. He said that restaurants and bars in the state were closing until the first of the month. He figured what he was getting would probably last that long for him and his wife.

I looked over at the drink case. They were starting to get low.

My suggestion is that you get your beer while you still can.

My boss got a text from one of his friends today who is a cop. There is a confirmed case in Columbia, IL. The thing about that is that the Monroe County commissioners had a meeting recently and decided that if there was even one case in the county that everyone should self quarantine. Really?

What is going to happen when there is a real emergency? When the grid goes down? When the New Madrid fault slips again? When aliens attack? When the zombies rise up?

I've got an air rifle and a wrist rocket. We'll be feasting on rabbits, squirrels and ground hogs. And yes. We have a case of beer.
