Alone in the snow (5 minute freewrite)

Until recently he'd never taken the time to watch it snow. There was always something to be done. There were always fires to be put out. Then the EMP happened.

Now there was time for whatever he wanted to do. There was nothing but time.

Power had been off for what seemed forever but was probably more like 3 months.

He didn't know if it would ever be back on.

Probably 75% of the population was gone. Starved. Or shot over supplies. At least that was what he was hearing on his wind-up short-wave receiver.

He was glad that he got away before it happened. He just wished that Lisa had come with him.

It was lonely at his mountain retreat .
