Soda: A liquid candy bar.

Soda: A liquid candy bar.

I was thinking about getting healthier in terms of diet and exercise approximately one year ago. I loved me a Mountain Dew, oh man, was it delicious. I had two, no more and no less each day. I loved the Dew for lunch and as part of an afternoon refresher.

I had consumed two Mountain Dews for over two decades daily, no more, no less. I enjoyed it.

However, one day a little over a year ago, the thought crossed my mind about what a soda really is. I read the sugar content of a soda. Here is a website that lists some of the popular sodas and their sugar content: https://www.rethinksugarydrink.org.au/how-much-sugar

I compared that to a Snickers bad. 20 Grams for a Snickers, 46 Grams for a Dew.  Holy smokes, that is sus (as the kids would say). Seriously, that is disgusting. And to think, you just drink it like it is a thirst quencher. DISGUSTING. Not in flavor, but in terms of what it is.

Now, full disclosure, I am not picking on Mountain Dew, it remains delicious, I am just addressing the sugar content in all sodas, that is the disgusting part.

So, for over a year now, I have replaced sodas with Coffee. I know there are some actual health benefits from Coffee, it is just not sugary sweet deliciousness of a liquid candy bar.

One, likely obvious side effect is that my pocketbook is fuller with drinking no soda, I mean two 20-ounce sodas were over $4 per day, times that by 365 and I saved $1460.  A little of that savings have gone into crypto investment.  Here's to the future, of health and wealth.

Cryptocurrency is a fascinating idea, one that has many confused, scared and dismissive of the concept. However, it also is intriguing and likely a large part of the future.
