I was thinking back in December 2022 about the state of cryptocurrency. I wrote about my thoughts (The complete article is reposted at the bottom of this article) that it was, and it is looking like that may have been the case. Now, I do not claim to be clairvoyant, I just got lucky and things turned quicker than I, or anyone else for that matter had thought. I also wrote about how I thought the turnaround in the crypto market would occur in 2023, but I thought it would be by the end of the summer. Just not this soon.
I think a lot of the speculation and recent regulation talk and decisions by the SEC are going to fuel the next bull run. It will build investor confidence and will help people return to cryptocurrency as well as find cryptocurrency for newcomers. as noted below, there are (in my opinion too many cryptocurrencies) and many will cease to exist. Many will go on to thrive. Thousands have failed, with the vast majority being a coin or token no one had really ever heard of save for the creators. I am hopeful that I picked some to invest in that will stand the test of time. I think I have some investment in approximately 15 coins or tokens.
Also, I believe part of the turnaround has to do with the easing (or speculation about easing) interest rates. I recently wrote and article about how the end of raising interest rates is near due to thoughts of inflation dropping.
Finally for today, even though the market has been up in the world of cryptocurrency, there are still profits to be made for the long term (not investment advice, just my thoughts). I wish I would have put some more into some tokens when I wrote the article below (reposted from a prior article I wrote).
THE ENTIRETY OF WHAT IS POSTED BELOW WAS WRITTEN BY ME IN DECEMBER 2022.
I have been thinking about this idea more and more recently. I keep hearing references from national and world financial experts/business people that the current state of cryptocurrency is like the dotcom crash.
If this is true, or at least a good way of thinking about the current state of crypto and where it is in it's lifecycle, the answer to the question I posed is a resounding YES.
There are risks to investing, and I am well aware of the risks of investing in cryptocurrency. I just got lucky to get involved in cryptocurrency when it was 60 to 80 percent less than it's ATH. I likely may not have gotten involved in crypto if I would have invested at that time. I really love the space that crypto is in now, despite all of the negativity and scandals. I have written about the need to weed out the fraudsters and con artists from the space.
If there is a paring of many coins and tokens (shitcoins as I hear them referred to), this helps the long term viability and public trust in cryptocurrency. According to this article https://e-cryptonews.com/how-many-cryptocurrencies-have-failed/ , there have been 2421 failed coins and tokens in 2021. It is estimated as of November 2022 that there are 9310 cryptocurrencies: https://www.statista.com/statistics/863917/number-crypto-coins-tokens/#:~:text=How%20many%20cryptocurrencies%20are%20there,might%20not%20be%20that%20significant. That number is up from the 66 in 2013.
I am not afraid to write about the positives and negatives about cryptocurrencies. I am a full believer in challenging belief to ensure (as much as possible) that the belief is true and accurate. I don't want to drink the Kool Aid the never-cryptos are selling, and I don not want to drink the Kool Aid of the Crypto maniacs are selling either.
Like anything, there are some good and some bad about cryptocurrencies. However, if you do your research, don't react on an emotional pendulum, cryptocurrency can be for you. I do have a feeling this is the last, best time to invest in cryptocurrency.
Again, please do not take anything I say as investment advice. I am enjoying learning and writing about cryptocurrency. I used to be a never-crypto type, and I have become a crypto type that says maybe it can be a good thing with solid research and appropriate planning. Do what you can do to help yourself without harming yourself in all areas of life.
