First of all, it has been a good day for cryptocurrency, aided by the good news with the cut in interest rates by a half percent.
However, the bump in price may not be long lasting, but what is a smaller new story for cryptocurrency today, but is likely more important in the long run is that the first US state announced they will accept cryptocurrency as payment for state services.
What state is it you ask?
It is Louisiana!! A shout out to the home of New Orleans!
Here is an article talking about it: https://wgno.com/news/louisiana/louisiana-residents-can-use-cryptocurrency-to-pay-for-state-services/
After I saw the news about this, my first thought was about the bigger meaning behind it. If this goes well, it means other states will follow suit and it will help with the slow march to general cryptocurrency acceptance. That is a good thing. Now, if it does not work well, or if the market crashes in cryptocurrency and they lose a lot of money, it will be problematic.
Either way, I am looking forward to following this story to see how it plays out.
Go Louisiana!
