The wild West of NFTs will end, and there will be much rejoicing.
There are some very disgusting, morally unethical, things happening in the NFT space. As with any emergence of technology, the wild west as it was in the real wild westiest of wild west days, was brutal, full of fear, speculation, and people being taken advantage of.
We see it in the news, rug pulls, creators whose disappearing act left the project supporters sitting empty handed, and then shilling and promotion price gouging holding back legitimate indies from finding a voice in the space, to the theft of NFTs, plagiarism, and a slowly declining faith in a technology with so much potential for good behind it.
But I would say this sounds very familiar to the wild west, the gold rush, industrial revolution, but now its about how we as a community guide it, how we vette creators, find find legitimate projects with a plan. How do we not fall for these less honorable practices in such a crowded and unmanaged space?
Well I believe its about fostering more community driven protection, sharing information between us collectors and creators, who want to create a supportive and powerful community of fan driven content!
And we see it happening already in chats, clubhouse rooms, twitter spaces, all around the web, discussions about where people have been burned, who and what to avoid, and protections for ourselves, all without centralizing a new tech begging to remain a safe decentralized space.
We want to help build that as an animation studio. We want to foster long term growth of the NFT space, in a sustainable and accessible way. So much so we partnered with Flair.Finance whose team has developed a Kickstarter like payment option for NFT supporters & collectors, that gives them more peace of mind when supporting with there hard earned cash, while also keeping us more accountable for our projects, long term, while moving forward.
This is the kind of project we want to support, a way for real creators to give their fandom more security for the projects they truly want to see succeed, because lets be honest, its all about trust here.
So a brief description of Flair's system is like this:
- A 90 day funding window similar to Kickstarter
- Initial 20% Paid to creator upfront (remaining held by Flair for slow release to creator)
- Day 15 another 10% released to Creators
- From Day 15 to 90 the remainder of you and everyone's payment is released to us a little bit each day.
- On Day 90 All funds released to Creator.
- At ANYTIME a supporter can refund their NFT returning them to us for what ever remains of their initial payment!
- This holds us accountable to keeping on our project for the duration of our campaign, and prove progress as we grow.
- This gives peace of mind to the supporter knowing we can't just rug pull after our drop.
The reason we like this is, it brings legitimacy to the table. It allows us to prove our worth over time, it keeps us engaged with the community to ensure our success, and builds their trust. Because trust is built, not blindly given, and if projects keep expecting blind trust, then people will stop having faith in NFTs overall, and that's not good for any of us.
So new tools like this, give legitimate creators accessible ways to help them grow. Grow in a more long term way, one wherein they want to mature, and bring along with them an amazing a nurturing audience.
And so we applied this to our project Unicorn Dick: Investigations, A rough city, a gruff detective story, but like, unicorns, and candy and ****..
We decided to hold ourselves accountable, and do NFTs differently for the sake of community.
