Time travel - comparison of two houses from the 19th century. A peasant's house and a rich peasant's house on the basis of houses in the Silesian open-air museum

It may be less exciting and spectacular, but in its own way interesting and intriguing, and certainly one of the first before majestic cities and other works of architecture were built. I will try to bring you closer to the rural buildings from the 19th century in the Beskid Sądecki region in Poland.

Oglądając wpisy w tym tagu, zauważyłem, że mało jest postów o zabudowie wiejskiej. Może jest ona mniej ekscytująca i widowiskowa, ale na swój sposób ciekawa i intrygująca, a na pewno jedna z pierwszych, zanim powstały majestatyczne miasta i inne dzieła architektury. Postaram się przybliżyć trochę zabudowę wiejską z XIX wieku z rejonów Beskidu Sądeckiego w Polsce.

Pierwszy dom - dom zwykłego chłopa ze wsi Istebna

The history of these houses dates back to the mid-nineteenth century. Both were located in the small village of Istebna in the Beskidy Mountains. In one a normal peasant lived, in another a rich one

Historia tych domów to połowa XIX wieku. Oba znajdowały się w niewielkiej wsi Istebna leżącej w Paśmie gór Beskidy. W jednym żył normalny chłop, a w innym bogaty.

Currently, they are an attraction of the museum, the Silesian Skansen, but not the only one, because there are several dozen buildings worth seeing in the museum

Obecnie stanowią atrakcję muzeum, Skansenu Śląskiego, ale nie jedyną, gdyż na terenie muzeum znajduje się kilkadziesiąt budowli wartych obejrzenia .

This is a house from 1876, built of large hewn logs, without the use of nails. The whole thing is sealed with hemp ropes.

To dom z 1876 roku, zbudowany z wielkich ciosanych bali, bez użycia gwoździ. Całość uszczelniona linami konopnymi.

Wnętrze domu zwykłego chłopa ze wsi Istebna

I took pictures of the interiors through the windows of these houses, and it seems to me that they have their own specific atmosphere. Such peeking through the window makes a person move in time, and has the impression that it is a real reality.

Zdjęcia wnętrz wykonywałem przez okna tychże domów, i wydaje mi się, że mają swój specyficzny klimat. Takie podglądanie przez okienko powoduje, że człowiek przenosi się w czasie, i ma wrażenie że to realna rzeczywistość.

The house is small, with small windows, a modest table with a stone top, a stone stove, a simple chest of drawers and wooden beds. Unadorned, austere, it was both a sleeping and cooking room.

Dom jest niewielki, z małymi oknami, skromnym stołem z kamiennym blatem, wyposażony w kamienny piec, prostą komodę i drewniane łóżka. Pozbawiony ozdób, surowy stanowił zarówno pomieszczenia do spania jak i gotowania.

Dom bogatego chłopa ze wsi Istebna

This is an even older building, from 1794. You can see the difference at first glance. The house has many rooms, it is more massive but also made of logs.

To jeszcze starsza budowla, bo z 1794 roku. Na pierwszy rzut oka widać już różnicę. Dom posiada wiele pokoi, jest masywniejszy choć również wykonany z bali.

The entrance door to the house is like a gate, wide and high made of solid boards, decorated with iron elements.

Drzwi wejściowe do domu są niczym wrota, szerokie wysokie wykonane z solidnych desek, zdobionych żelaznymi elementami.

The interior also looks richer, neater. There is a wooden table, a carved solid wood wardrobe. Decorated chests, and on the walls paintings depicting most often holy possessions.

Wnętrze również wygląda bogaciej, schludniej. Jest drewniany stół, rzeźbiona szafa z litego drewna. Zdobione skrzynie, a na ścianach obrazy przedstawiające najczęściej święte posiacie.
