Speaking Crypto 101: ATH

The crypto ecosystem has no shortage of jargon. Ambiguous phrases, acronyms and newly formed words that had almost no meaning a decade ago (or even a few months ago for many) are now widely used market signals informing strategic investment decisions. As Cryptocurrencies are natively digital, it is important to understand the vernacular, usage, and meaning of the digital vocabulary that has formed within the space.

ATH- All Time High
ATH, or All Time High, is the highest price that a cryptocurrency has reached since its inception. While ATH may be the norm for many investors and traders at the moment, it is important to remember the speculative nature of Digital Assets. As the potential of blockchain technology continues to be proven and users continue to adopt platforms as viable solutions, investors and traders have constantly placed a value on the utility of this technology.
The changes in sentiment can be sudden and divisive. Bitcoin in 2011 after the fallout of the Mt. Gox exchange hack. The ICO bubble and burst of late 2017. The more recent ‘DeFi summer’ bubble of 2020. Each of these events have demonstrated the speculative nature of blockchain technology and the potential it enables. All Time Highs will continue to be dictated by the value investors place on the potential of these assets.
