According to a recent report, US congress has decided to abolish cryptography in the United States. For this purpose, both US lawmakers and the Department of Justice under Attorney General William Barr are planning to ban encryption in the US.

The Attorney General William Barr said at the US White House Summit on Human Trafficking that in this digital age, human trafficking relies on digital communication and the internet. He stated that human trafficking is being enabled through closed networks.

He addressed at the summit:

“We live in a digital age, and like everyone else, human traffickers are relying increasingly on digital communication and the internet … and more and more, the evidence we rely on to detect and to deal with these predators is digital evidence. However, increasingly, this evidence is being encrypted.”

His comments showed that he was against the end-to-end encryption and therefore wants encryption banned in the United States.

Draft Bill to ban encryption in the US

The idea is to ban encryption in the United States through a draft bill. William Barr and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) plan to close encryption with the help of a draft bill. They name it as:

“Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (or EARN IT) Act.”

The government intends to disclose the illegal and unethical activities of corrupt people. Government officials will also have access to the privacy of the people. The purpose of this draft bill is to block and ban that content on social media apps which is objectionable for children.

Encryption ban will have negative impacts on Cryptocurrency

This step of banning encryption in the United States has put the cryptocurrency in danger. Cryptocurrency works as decentralized and information remains anonymous and unrevealed. But now this anonymity of cryptocurrency is facing a massive threat.

Thomas Lee from Fundstrat known as the leading financial analyst says in a Tweet that if encryption gets banned in the US, then it would have negative impacts on the cryptocurrency.
