In the growing world of technology and design there is one feature that always comes to mind when making any ultimately successful presentation. Most of us would know this program as Microsoft PowerPoint. PowerPoint serves as a key feature in just about every major presentation we will make over the course of the average modern career path. In previous years the medium of choice would have more often used slides and/or one of those old-fashioned overhead projectors you would probably remember from grade school or high school if you were a product of the 70s, 80s, or 90s. By the early 2000’s computer technology had been further integrated into the world of business as well as the educational scene, in some areas even show business.
One major thing that comes to mind, no matter the medium used, or the information presented, that stands out as a key factor in making an outstanding and informationally memorable presentation is simple yet vital. Any successful speaker or demonstrator will tell you the most important part of any presentation is finding a way to thoroughly captivate and relate to your intended audience. There are several key factors that will help you intertwine the minds of any group of people regardless of background. There are several key factors that combine a few of the helpful tips given in order to create effectiveness in a presentation. One such attribute is,” likability” which culminates having a strong foundation and introduction to your presentation as well as remembering to keep your own excitability up as you cannot expect the audience to stay motivated if you yourself are not. This will in turn help you successfully capture the attentions of the lot.
Another such attribute is called “relatability” which focus the audience and helps them better understand the material presented by tending to their individual personality types by giving them something familiar to relate the topic to. The top thing in my experiences that has made this aspect successful is to tell a personal story of something you have experienced in your own lifetime that matches up with the current subject. This will in turn, lead to the last but most important attribute which is, “memorability”. I personally like to call the is “being present”. To be present one needs to be as visual and vocally appealing as possible, not only in a person aspect but with their expressed material as well. As said get personal, include stories from your experiences, use clear and direct, yet visually appealing examples and imagery to help deliver your target message. Above all else just have fun with your audience, but always remember to stay on a professional level with them as you do not want them to get the idea you may be a little to over the top. Which results in loss of focus and loss of retention of the given information. Remember these three main ideologies when planning and presenting your piece and you should set a standard of a great performance.
