Netflix Just Bought Hollywood’s Keys

Netflix made an agreement to pay for the Warner Bros. Discovery’s film studios along with streaming platforms such as HBO Max and HBO, in a transaction valued at 72 billion in equity, while if the debts are counted it stands at almost 82.7 billion.

With that, Netflix will obtain rights for some of the largest intellectual properties in Hollywood; this means access to complete movie and show libraries from Warner Bros and HBO, besides a remarkable franchises. Every one of Warner Bros. Discovery shareholder will receive a blend of cash and Netflix shares given for each share. This merger will happen after Warner splits off its cable network sectors, which include international news and CNN-like TV, and they expect this to take until around Q3 in 2026.

Netflix will not only be about streaming. It will change significantly to become big studio and content library leader. People watching may find much larger selection under a roof. For the entertainment industry, power can end up more with Netflix, so there might be less studios not depending on the main companies and more centralization.

Still, there is nothing confirmed finally. Law bodies both in America and Europe plan to look closely for anti-monopoly concerns since putting two very big companies together can stop competition. However, there are ideas to imagine: Will Netflix play movies in cinema, as Warner Bros does or move bigger to an online streaming?

Overall it is a massive transformation for TV and film, which probably shifts how we will view movies and shows for a long time. You know, like this could change industry more than expected.
