If you have been keeping up with the mining news during this year you have most likely seen the name "The Entity" pop up here and there. It have been this seemingly mysterious chunk of hash power that appeared from out of nowhere. But finally, their identity is revealed.
The Entity mystery
Maybe a bunch of anonymous hash power seems like nothing out of the ordinary. And normally it would not be. But this hash power had the ability to seamlessly be able to jump from coin to coin. And that is the thing that piqued people's interest. What was this that enabled them to swap the hashing algorithm? People were speculating that it might be some new sort of FPGA, a programmable ASIC if you will, that was way more efficient than the ones on the market. Or perhaps some new type of mining hardware altogether??
The reveal
There were also rumors that The Entety had been in contact with some of the devs on the different coins it was mining. This was all corroborated when the Radiant team put out an announcement that they were in talks with The Entity, and then a few days later they would announce the first ASIC, Application-Specific Integrated Circuit, for the blockchain.
And a few days later it was revealed by Icerive that they were launching their Radiant ASIC. Oh yea, it was not them but at the same time, Dragonball also announced their new dualmining ASIC. Allowing you to mine both Radiand and Aletheum at the same time.
Dragonball ASIC
Lastly, I would like to give my 2 cents on the company and how they have chosen to operate. They have been mining for close to 6 months on the ASIC´s they are now selling. And while I would not expect the performance to be impacted by the use. I just find the whole situation deplorable. They mine and make bank on it, and now they are trying to sell their ASIC as the new hotness. When the fact is it is at best their sloppy seconds.
No, not that Dragon Ball, it is the one without a space in the name.
If you have been following the ASIC mining on Kaspa and Alephium you have noticed that it is a bloodbath. New machines coming to market all the time, and profitability dropping faster than me dropping the mic on an open mic night. As an example, the new home Kaspa miner from Iceriver KS0 Ultra is more or less unprofitable at the same time customers got it. Transforming it to a space heater. And that's most likely not what people were buying them for.
But as if things were not bad enough that Dragonball where trying to sell their sloppy seconds. More or less the same day their ASIC went up for sale a new chunk of "mysterious" hash power turned up. These seemingly were putting out ~2-3x hash power as the ASIC up for sale. This means that not only are Dragonball trying to pull a fast one, but they expect you to pay them a ton of money for the privilege of getting fuked by them, presumably. It could be someone else's "mysterious" hash power of course. And by a ton of money just for reference, it will cost you $11k to get fuked. But on the of chance that this is what your looking for, I can offer f-king you over for only 5k. That means you can get f-ked two time and still have money left over to buy me some nice flowers. ;)
Radiant mining
I do expect to see similar things happening with Radiant as we have seen with Kaspa and Alepheum. My hope tho is that it will go much slower them the insane sprint we are seeing with Kaspa and Alepheum. And if you want to get into Radiant mining, I would seriously hope you will avoid Dragonball. While other ASIC manufacturers also have been known to mine on their ASIC´s, I have never seen it done to this extent and with this mallis for lack of a better word.
