ANNOYED CUSTOMERS AND A FBI INVESTIGATION, THE STORY OF 3COMMAS

3Commas ends 2022 with angry customers and and FBI investigation

3Commas is an Estonian-based company, and they have been in the headlines at the end of 2022 for all the wrong reasons. Let us look at just what these reasons are.

Annoyed customers and the FBI

Back as early as October customers of 3Commas lost millions, and depending on who you ask different sides are at fault. The customers claimed that their information must have been leaked. While 3Commas points fingers at the customers saying they are victims of phishing attacks. The only problem is that there are many for it to be random at least. Over 50 of them have organized themself in a telegram group.

And look at that. There were too many customers for it to be some random thing. It was more or less confirmed as an anonymous twitter user who published 10,000 API keys from a list of around 100,000 of 3Commas users. And that apparently finally got the company to react and verify that in fact, these were valid API keys.

And at least in my book, it appears these keys have been floating around for some time before they were made public as well. At least judging by the missing funds from the site's users.

This whole thing then later lead to FBI starting an investigation looking into the leaked API keys. Two employees have confirmed they have been contacted by the FBI regarding the leak.

All I can say is that despite the nice name, that has both been used by a rock group. And probably more recently and well known in the tv show Silicon Valley, as the name of a tequila. In fact, it was so popular in the show that it has gotten a live-action remake. And can now be bought where ever you buy tequila, presumably. =) Stay away from 3Commas, the crypto company. And if you indulge in the tequila, do so sparingly.

What is your take on this, I am not really surprised by a company sitting rolling their thumbs and blaming their customers anymore. To many, companies appear to have that as their go-to policy nowadays. Only for them to finally say opsi when faced with overwhelming evidence. But I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
