NTU Singapore is Theta's newest customer
Theta Welcomes Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (AKA NTU Singapore)
Not familiar with NTU?
They are ranked #2 of all the universities in Singapore. And stacked against the global University system they are ranked #15 based upon QS Ranking. NTU focuses on Language and Speech which a collaborative effort between National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. The speech lab of NTU signed up with Theta EdgeCloud much like other Southeast Asian and US Universities to allow less expensive access to AI models and potential advancements. One of the main drivers for the partnership was Theta's speech and language processing via real-time AI models.
NTU Speech lab is lead by the illustrious Professor Chng Eng Siong, who has lead the speech lab since 2007.
The trailblazing lab is advancing multilingual speech recognition, speaker extraction, and AI-driven language models. Below is a list of key achievements and focus areas include:
- AI-Powered Language Models: Leveraging large language models (LLMs) for generative error correction, domain-specific applications, and contextual understanding.
- Classification and Speaker Identification: Pioneering research in diarization, deep fake detection, and audio event classification under complex conditions.
- Code-Switching ASR Systems: Developing advanced speech recognition models for languages such as English, Mandarin, and many more.
- Speech Enhancement: Innovating solutions for noise reduction, speaker extraction, and overlapping speech recognition.
Summary
The Speech Lab at NTU will leverage Theta EdgeCloud’s decentralized GPU infrastructure to drive advancements in speech and language AI. Allowing NTU to train and fine-tune multilingual ASR models at scale! Once again reinforcing that Theta's EdgeCloud THE GPU platform of choice for advanced AI research in speech and language processing, and general AI.
