To start, my opinion for “Information Techology is improving our communication skills” is rather positive. For me the technology is an incredible advance for the communication, it allows to enrich intellectually and allows to open opportunities on topics in conversations.
We can also talk about communication tools in information technology that allow to speak without being next to the person which improves the diversity of contact.
This improves our communication skills because we can talk every day without necessarily leaving home and when writing a message, we can think in advance about what we want to say. IT can also provide the opportunity to contact people from other countries who do not speak our language. The only problem is that some people can be too invested in this universe without wanting to get out of it and no longer enjoy the world around them.
« In the digital information age, critics of the technology saturated society claim that all the forms available to humans for digital communication are inherently ruining interpersonal communication as we once knew it. This claim is wildly not factually and based off claims that are emotionally rooted in a fear of changing times, and most often by an older population that hasn’t yet picked up on technology and the many uses for it in their daily lives. Technology has the ability to enhance daily living from appliances to mobile devices and computers, technology is everywhere. Aiming to stray as far away from it as possible will only hinder someone from advancing themselves in their learning abilities and in society overall.
Technology and communication are not mutually exclusive. In the rise of digital communication, technology can actually help communication skills because it allows people to learn written communication to varying audiences. With technology being a standard in most office work environments, employees and managers have to learn ways of communicating in-person at meetings and during daily work routines, but also making sure they are updated on any company announcements via email or digitally posted. What used to be written memos, are often now online blog posts to the company site or a newsletter sent to employees. It’s crucial that people understand the importance of emailing as it is often considered just as important as telephones in a method of contact information. »
