When coming up with this list, I wanted to showcase games that involve a passive feature, so you’re not stuck at a screen gaming instead of, say, working. The games gathered here all feature a passive/auto-play element that allows you to make money by choosing your investment, setting a few parameters, and then walking away.
Heroes Chained
While this one isn’t even playable yet, it’s a good bet as an investment. Heroes Chained has earned some large, international backers and gained the support of award-winning game studios. While the value of their token has gone down since its listing, considering where it is in relation to the rest of the crypto market as a whole, it’s doing quite well.
The developers promise much with Heroes Chained. Coined as a ‘play & earn’ instead of a ‘play to earn’ game, Heroes Chained is designed to be a good game, unlike some others which are more similar to trading platforms that have video game elements. The game has some hi-def trailers, impressive promotional art, and is staffed by veterans of the gaming industry. HC leans more towards being a genuinely good game that you’ll want to play, whether you’re earning crypto for your time or not.
Defi Kingdoms
Defi Kingdoms is less of a video game and more of an investment platform that has been gamified, but it’s still very much playable and has one of the most active, vibrant discord communities around. The floor to get started questing is steep, no way around that. But if you’re willing to bite the bullet and buy yourself some heroes, you can begin questing and earning items that have value, utility, and features.
Featuring a garden (liquidity pools) and a bank (staking), the game has plenty you can do with your money. The number of liquidity pools is impressive and as of writing this, there is a total of this much money locked in the game.
Once you’ve hired a few heroes and earned enough XP and items for your effort, you can take the next step of leveling your heroes up or using them to summon new heroes. Each hero is an NFT, with unique stats and skills.
Join the discord and ask any questions you have, they’re very welcoming and do all your research to see if this is worth your time.
Take a look at the price of JEWEL, the game’s token, and look up the team behind the game. Both should convince you this is a project that is not only going to be around for a while, but they also have some real treats in store for the future.
Axie Infinity
Yeah. You read that right. When looking at blockchain gaming, you cannot help but see card game after card game after card game. It’s easy, I suppose, since each card can also be an NFT. But when considering the various entries—Age of the Gods and Splinterlands come to mind---there is clearly one that stands ahead of the pack, as indicated by the price of their coin, AXS.
Look, I’ll be honest with you, battling and breeding alien cat creatures is a weird concept. But seeing just how devoted the community is to the game and just how devoted the developers are to the community is downright impressive. The devs want to create an enjoyable experience throughout, and if you look at how far Axie Infinity has come that’s easy to see. They’ve made some serious improvements over the years. They have several big updates planned for 2022, including one that updates graphics, and with the current dip we’re in it’s a great time to snag some of AXS for cheap.
If you have any blockchain games you’ve invested in or have your eye on, let me know. The more knowledge, the better.
