The day started with gloomy news of FTX purportedly halting withdrawals, with on-chain data showing that the last outgoing transaction from FTX taking place at 6:37 am ET on Ethereum. Withdrawals on Solana and Tron seem to have stopped as well. FTT was dumping hard to its all-time lows, moving the entire crypto market down to its knees.
However amidst this crypto bloodbath, the FTX fiasco has just taken an interesting turn of events when Binance announced that it will be acquiring FTX!
The market immediately responded positively, with FTT surging from $14 to $19, and BNB from $323 to $385 reclaiming its spot on the top 3 cryptocurrency charts!
Just moments before the market-moving announcement took place on Twitter, I started a FTT grid trading bot on Huobi, which has earned me a good 10% ROI within a few minutes!
Such is the volatility of cryptocurrencies that present as many trading opportunities as it may loopholes and pitfalls — for me it is an interesting foray into quite an uncharted territory that is as terrifying as it is exciting! But then again, only invest money you can afford to lose, so that you can enjoy the ups, and tide through the lows.
Implications For The Long Run
This merge is generally a good news for the entire cryptocurrency industry as FTX will then be able to avoid total insolvency which would potentially sparkle a spiraling series of unfortunate events with which we have become all too familiar no thanks to the downfall of Terra Luna. Now that there is seemingly light at the end of the tunnel, is it safe to say that a bull run is imminent? Or is this a threat to the decentralization of cryptocurrency, as it becomes more centralized with a single entity wielding almost veto-equivalent amounts of power? Only time will tell.
