Since I've joined Brave I've always wondered what I can use my earned BAT for. There is the possibility to tip creators manually or to set up automated contributions to your most frequently visited sites. Those are some solid options to keep your BAT circulating and to give back to the community.
However, there are some sites that will certainly pay it forward. Many charities and nonprofit organizations have recently joined the Brave creators platform and can therefore receive your BAT tips. While it is not directly clear if your donation will contribute to the cause itself or help with existing expenses, it does make an impact no matter what.
You can also contribute to the concept of the free internet by helping out websites that provide open source software or free databases of some sort. Especially during today's times of surveillance and censorship, those sites provide a big welfare surplus and depend on their community. Examples are Wikipedia or the Tor Project.
How can I donate? You can donate by visiting the website of your choice and clicking the BAT icon in the right hand corner of your address bar. You can see if the website is verified and therefore able to receive your donation. You can then sent a one-time donation or set up a monthly contribution.
Where can I find participating websites? You find some verified sites listed below:
