Flare will be airdropping its new Spark token to XRP holders. The new Spark token will integrate smart contracts into the Ripple Network through the Ethereum Virtual Machine which would allow ETH based dApps to communicate with the Ripple Network.
45 billion tokens will be airdropped to XRP holders based on a snapshot of address on December 12, 2020. At launch, 15% of the total eligible Spark will be disturbed to XRP bag holders. The remaining Spark will be distributed over 25 – 34 months.
To claim the token, you must have your XRP in an exchange or wallet that will support the airdrop. A list of exchanges of wallets can be found on Flare’s website, flare.xyz .
Cross chain communication continues to increase. Everyday more and more chains integrate strengthening the crypto ecosystem. It will be interesting to see how many more chains will have bridges to each other and what this means for the entire ecosystem.
