NEW YORK — Bernie Sanders (I, VT) is now The Salvation Army’s newest fashion model. Mr. Sanders saw the opportunity as a great way to drive donations.
“Honestly—and I really believe this—The Salvation Army gives millions of low-income Americans access to decent clothing. I do not believe that fashion should exclusively be for the rich. You should not need to give an arm and a leg to look hip in America,” Senator Sanders told The Dingo.
Samantha White, The Salvation Army’s Chief of Marketing, says that this modeling deal will attract a younger audience.
“Bernie represents the youth’s political energy, and he promotes charity and equity: two pillars of The Salvation Army’s mission.”
The organization says all proceeds from Senator Sander’s modeling campaign will go to charity. Mr. Sanders also pledged to donate all of the profits he makes from the modeling deal.
The Salvation Army, founded in 1862 by William and Catherine Booth, is a Christian charity organization currently based in London.
“The best part is I get to keep the clothes afterward [chuckles],” said the beaming Senator.
