Chumbi Valley is an upcoming play to earn, blockchain game set in a mystical forest valley. The valley is filled with adorable creatures called Chumbi.
A combination of the words ‘chubby’ ‘stumpy’ and ‘chibi’.
Chumbi will be your loyal companions in this NFT game, train them and they will help you explore, farm, craft, build, battle & even earn cryptocurrencies with real value!
But before you get too excited!! Nope it’s not ready yet, and the tokens have not been released. But you are lucky to be early on this exciting new project! In this blog, I’ll share with you what we know so far about the game and why people are so excited about it.
Chumbi Valley is an upcoming NFT Play-to-Earn game being built on Polygon (ETH Scaling Solution), that aims to improve the speed and reduce the cost and complexities of the transactions on blockchain networks. Meaning faster transactions and lower to almost zero fees!
Other NFT games on Polygon are Zed Run, Meeb Master and the much anticipated Ember Sword.
Chumbi Valley is an enchanting role playing game which visuals and gameplay are inspired by Zelda, Stardew Valley, Pokemon & Studio Ghibli. If you are a fan of any or all of those then you’ll surely like Chumbi.
As I’ve said earlier, Chumbi Valley is not ready yet, but it will be playable in app form on Android, iOS & PC.
Now, let’s talk about what Chumbi are? And yes “the plural of Chumbi is also “Chumbi”
Chumbi are adorable NFT bipedal creatures that inhabit a lush & mysterious forest valley.
Good news is Chumbi Valley will be FREE TO START. Yeap, you read that right.
You will be paired with a FREE Chumbi to get you started. This Chumbi can help you with basic tasks but cannot be sold or transferred.
Each Chumbi is a unique NFT creature made up of a rare combination of: type which determines skin color, coat, ears, horns, eyes, mouth, and pattern.
Chumbi have a main type and a coat type, but these don’t have to match, in this example we have an Insect Type with a Flower Coat Type.
In total, there are 15 main types, each with 10 coat variations, this means that there are 150 coats that can appear on any type of Chumbi.
Here’s some very rough concept sketches for Chumbi coats that they have showed us so far.
Combining type and coat with hundreds of body parts and patterns results in almost infinite unique Chumbi.
As I’ve said earlier, you can identify a Chumbi's main type - by their skin colour.
Here we can see 4 different Chumbi types with the same Creature coat.
There are many interesting looking Chumbi you can breed. If you are lucky, breeding may result in rare body parts such as shiny coats or even ultra rare mini Chumbi!
And speaking of breeding, you can breed any type of Chumbi together. But breeding compatible types will result in a chance to create higher tier Chumbi types - which may be helpful in winning Chumbi Battles. One of the many ways to level up your CHUMBI.
When a Chumbi is born it inherits ,2 attack moves, 2 effect moves and an ability from it’s genetics.
A Chumbi’s first attack move is based on its main type (again determined by the color of the skin) so in this example it’s a VOID type, and its second attack move is based on its coat type. Which in this one is CRYSTAL
Void type Chumbi are special. They have coloured eyes with exclusive effects.
The Chumbi Valley battle system is a creative mix of Pokemon style battles with an extra layer of strategy, easy to learn but quite difficult to master.
If you want to prepare as early as now, here’s the guide to each Chumbi type's weaknesses and strengths.
Chumbi earn experience points and level up by winning battles against wild cursed Chumbi -defeat them to banish the curse and earn Lucky Stars (which is comparable to Axie’s SLP)
Lucky Stars which is needed to craft candied Apples. Coz’ each time a Chumbi’s level increases by 5, it will need to eat a Candied Apple to progress to the next level.
Everytime you feed your chumbi its favourite food it increases its happiness level. And higher happiness levels equals a higher interest rate (APY) when a Chumbi is assigned to the Shrine of Giving. More about that in awhile.
What’s exciting about this game is that there’s a lot that you could do inside Chumbi Valley.
GAMEPLAY
Inside chumbi valley you can grow forest crops that have many uses. Crops are tokenized, they need to be watered regularly and will grow on blockchain based time. Certain crops can even be combined with Lucky Stars to make a Chumbi’s favourite food.
Forest Home
Chumbi Valley will feature an immersive forest home world where you can use your Chumbi to collect #NFT resources & crops. Chop trees, clear the overgrowth, gather resources to craft usable NFT items and decorate your world. Build a home, and become an expert Chumbi trainer
Exploration
In Chumbi Valley, you can explore randomly generated terrain by venturing through an Ancient Portal.
This portal takes you to different biomes where you can encounter & battle wild Chumbi. You can also find special items that are not found in your home world. Day and night cycles, weather, and seasons will ensure that exploration stays fresh and exciting
Offline Learning
Send your Chumbi to the Chumbi Sage and it can learn spells to water crops, chop wood, collect stone, catch fish, and more
Chumbi Lending
.Players can lend out their Chumbi and automatically collect an adjustable percentage of all earnings that are made by their borrowed Chumbi. Somewhat similar to Axie’s Scholarship System
And last but not the least Chumbi Village which ill feature plots of land with NFT ownership.
See there’s so many things to do here in this game. And If you like battling more than farming, then you could FOCUS on that, but for those who want to take a MORE passive approach you could focus on EXPLORING and FARMING instead.
WAYS TO EARN
Since there are multiple things to do here that means there are many ways to earn as well in CHUMBI Valley and here they are:
Battling, Farming, Crafting, Selling, Lending, Staking and many more..
CHUMBI VALLEY will also have it’s own web based marketplace.
Not only for buying, selling and trading chumbi but also land plots, cosmetics, game items, crops resources and more.
But aside from that you may also encounter the Wandering Trader for useful items like seeds, decorative items and more. The trader will also buy crops and resources from the player in exchange for Lucky Stars.
TOKENOMICS
First the Chumbi Token or CHMB is the primary form of in game currency. More like AXS on Axie.
CHMB is needed to pay for NEW Chumbi, breeding fees, sage fees, land plots, and more..
Here’s how the supply of CHMB will be allocated:
Now for their secondary token we have the LUCKY STARS or LSTS - required in four core CHUMBI Mechanics - breeding, leveling, spells and happiness. Basically like Axie’s SLP.
You earn it by batling cursed Chumbi, completing in game quests, farming crops, selling to the Wandering trader and more.
It’s good that as early as now, we can see how the team has already been working on maintaining an optimal balance between supply and demand and they’ve also been transparent about the revenue streams and plans.
Percentage of the game revenue and staking yield will go to the Chumby treasury - that will be shared to players and holders each week. A part of it will also go to planting REAL trees, charity donations, in game events and more. Something to look forward to right?!
But for now, all we can do is wait because the NFT presale, Chumbi token sales and village presale is yet to be announced by the team..
TEAM
Oh you may be asking, who’s the team behind it? At this time, they haven’t revealed themselves yet but have said they will be releasing FULL TEAM Details before any NFT/Token Presales.
What we know so far is that they are based in Australia. And that the founders had previously founded & successfully ran a web design studio for 8 years & a mobile gaming studio for 3 years but is NOW 100% focused on CHUMBI Valley..
We are still at STAGE 1 of their ROAD MAP. Full website with TEAM will be released on Stage 2.

IS IT WORTH IT?
Is this game worth it? Well we can’t say anything about that yet since the game is still to be released and no launch date has been announced. But what I can say is it looks promising based on the lite paper information.
The art style, game play and play to earn mechanics all look interesting.
