Protesters Arrive.....

By Cje95 | Texas Boy in a DC World | 6 Jan 2021

In today's Washington DC update man is it a doozy. When I first went out "in public" aka leaving my apartment complex I went to go pick up my roommate from his Federal Office, While waiting for him to arrive a ton of different cars with protesting signs drove by..... The difference though was what these signs said.

These were not signs of Pro-Trump or Anti-Trump but instead, there were huge Anti-Communist Party of China signs being flown and paraded on these cars. They hit China from the detention camps to forced organ harvesting to the internet wall. It was really a neat thing to see these Asian-Americans do from across the US.

This evening we had to drop my roommate's parents off in Baltimore to catch a flight back to Houston and when we dropped them off and they got through security they called him to tell him Trump supporters were pouring out of planes. Everyone is on high alert with the protests. The barricades and police have been out in full force today. I have been watching the news to see how it was going in DC. I am lucky enough that if I need to get out of the city with my roommate I have friends in Virginia who called me to tell me that they wanted us to come regardless. With my roommate having work in the morning that was not an option but tomorrow if everything goes sideways my roommate told me to drive to their place since the staff has a place to hunker down in if it gets out of control.

When adding in the Georgia races with how close they are it's just a crazy time to be moving in and trying to get situated in the Capitol. While trying to find a job all of this chaos is going on which really just throws me for a loop. I am used to my world having a structure which it is lacking right now. So much is fluid both now and over the next few days. A constant thought in the back of my head is how people on both sides will react to the Georgia races. Will everyone be civil will one side flare up and another respond its a whole crazy issue.

I might have several posts tomorrow as DC's situation evolves throughout the day. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. It's crazy to think about a pandemic going on during all of this but honestly, there is. Really it's a lot to wrap your mind around!
