Dev Log: Building the Game Experience Prototype
Hey Stranges 👋
Quick update on my project! I’ve finished designing the fragments and setting up the backend system for how everything works—including the website. Now I’m moving into the prototype phase and starting to explore how these fragments could be used in a game.
The idea is: as collectors gather fragments,
they’ll unlock parts of the story and get access to a game world where they can explore more. I’m still figuring out what kind of gameplay fits best—maybe a story mode, maybe a puzzle or mystery mechanic. Still brainstorming.
Right now, I’m working on the map layout. I’ve already got the basics working: the character can move, the camera follows, and I’ve imported the fragments so I can see how they look in-game. The character is just a simple rectangle for now—just a placeholder—but it moves around the field like it
 should.

Eventually, I’ll replace it with a real character. The challenge is, I don’t know how to rig in 3D yet. I’m more comfortable with 2D animation, so I might start with a 2D character that has 8-direction movement while I learn the 3D side. I’ve been using this 3D software for about a month now, and I’m still practicing with basic shapes. I’ve tried modeling more complex stuff, but my mesh structure still needs work.
Honestly, I could use help from a pro artist—but I’m doing this solo. I’m introverted and usually work better on my own, even though I know collaboration would help. This project is also a personal challenge for me—to grow not just in skills, but in how I communicate and share what I’m building.
We only live once, so I want to explore and learn in a way that feels safe and true to myself. There’s a lot of noise out there, and I want to build something that respects people’s space and creativity.
Anyway, that’s it for now. Once the map layout is finalized, I’ll post another update. Thanks for reading, and see you in the next dev log!
