First of all, congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs on their Superbowl win. Though I did pick the 49ers to win it all, I'm happy to see their coach Andy Reid get his first championship and solidify his spot as one of the greats of coaching. I took time to see the reactions of media and sports fans in the following weeks to this point and in my observation the reactions have been ridiculous. The main one being that the 49ers QB is the one at fault. Yes he did miss that open throw for a clear touchdown, but that didn't make or break the game. The 49ers simply didn't dance with the one that got them to the ball which is their running game. They held the Chiefs offense at bay for the majority of the game, but their offense didn't take advantage of their chances to increase the lead. That's a playcalling issue, not a QB issue. Those calling for a QB change with the 49ers of any kind are delusional and that's the bottom line. Garrapollo in his first full season helped get the team to the SB. For about 4 or 5 weeks when the team had a lotta injuries, he carried the team. He's more than capable and widens the SB window for that franchise. I don't expect to see KC in the SB multiple times though. Mahomes is supremely talented, but historically KC hasn't been able to keep key components of their teams in place over my lifetime of watching football. They have traditionally been a team that doesn't open up the checkbook for the franchise so we'll see if they are willing to change course for greatness as a franchise or choose to be satisfied with the 2020 trophy only.
