NFL: Aaron Rodgers Out, Love In

NFL: Aaron Rodgers Out, Love In

The saga continues with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.  One of the most prolific passers in the history of the NFL will be out this coming Sunday due to a positive covid test.  There's been a lot of backlash at Rodgers over the positive test and most of it being about him not being vaccinated and instead choosing to have a treatment from his doctor meant to boost his antibodies.  There's many angles to view this entire situation, but I'll start with the obvious which is the fact that it is his personal decision to make in regards to vaccination.  Of course it's gonna effect the team with him being out a game or two, but it's not like it's for the rest of the season.  I get it that he's the leader of the team and expectations on and off the field are higher for him, but if the man chooses not to get vaccinated then that's that.  Not every starting QB in the NFL is vaccinated either which means that they are just as much at risk as Rodgers has been all this time.  I think the bigger issue is that this is more than likely his last season with the Packers and it hasn't been a pretty breakup thus far.  It's been very public and very vocalized since the drafting of QB Jordan Love set to be the heir apparent at the position.  This kind of feels like those who already have a bone to pick with Rodgers are using this situation to double down on his person and character, but to each his own.  As for myself, I first wish him a full and healthy recovery.  Secondly, I'm interested to see how the rest of the season turns out for the Packers after his time off and even more so how will they fair with Jordan Love at the helm for a week or two?  Love didn't look good in preseason, but nobody really knows what he's done in the offseason and even during this season to stay prepared for a moment like this.  If he can come in and have a solid showing and get a victory in the next game or two then it's a good sign, but still not an answer to what's going to happen after this season is over.  Packers were without some key players last week as well and may be without them again making the path for the young QB even harder to traverse.  I'm sure that's a game that a lot of people will be paying attention to and if it goes badly, rest assured the pressure will be back on the Packers front office with the question of what are they gonna do without Rodgers?
