Just to be clear, these are just some random ideas that popped into my head and pure speculation. However, there are some valid points to believe that this might eventually happen.

Splintertalk NFTs might be linked to the game

Not something the team promised and it's not in the roadmap, but it seemed like this is something they want to do eventually.
It's just not something that gets priority at this point.

No battle background at this time

Splinterlands has plenty of art, but doesn't use anything as battle background.
Battle backgrounds is something that is included in most other games of this genre.

This would make everybody happy

What's not to like?
It would add utility to the NFTs without affecting the economics of the game.

The NFTs might look something like this, but with different rarities and maybe even animated onces.
