The FDT Memecoin: How It's Going So Far
I didn't really expect much. What can be said about a political memecoin? You either catch the attention of the political party it's intended for, or you don't.
Even if your memecoin could be established as an unbiased memecoin, meaning anyone who thinks the current President of the United States is any number of things (I'll list those possible things in a second), or just unfit for his position.
One might view Donald Trump as a criminal, a sexual deviate, a fraud, a con artist, or an orange shit weasel. Regardless of their reasons, if a person supports the #FDT hashtags and has a rudimentary knowledge of Solana, they could back the FDT memecoin token and help it get established. So far, that seems to be an uphill battle.
Getting a Memecoin Established on Solana: Organically
While most methods for launching a memecoin require significant time, resources, and capital, a community-driven project like the FDT memecoin aims to succeed without any real money. This approach hinges entirely on capturing the attention of the right people. Given the choice to forgo traditional community channels like Telegram or Discord, you're opting for a purely organic, decentralized, and difficult path.
The Organic Approach: Building a Distributed Narrative
An organic launch on Solana without a central hub is the hardest way to do it. Instead of relying on a dedicated group chat, this method depends on individuals acting as evangelists across the decentralized web. The core idea is to create a compelling narrative and informational assets that others can easily spread. You're not building a single community; you're sparking a thousand small fires.
Here's how I am trying to approach it:
- Content Over Community: Your primary focus shifts from managing a chat to creating highly shareable content. This includes memes, infographics, short articles, and direct, conversational posts that explain the project's purpose and tokenomics. The content must be so compelling that people want to share it without being asked.
- Identify Existing Battlegrounds: Find where your target audience already congregates. This means engaging on platforms like Twitter/X, Reddit, and various crypto forums. The key is to be a part of existing conversations, not to spam new ones. Respond to threads, provide value, and introduce the project naturally.
- Informational Hubs: Since there’s no centralized chat, a simple, clear, and professional website is critical. This site must be the single source of truth for all information—the token's contract address, tokenomics, and any relevant details. It should be a static page or a simple document, not a forum.
- The "No-Shill" Rule: The most effective organic growth happens when people feel like they've discovered something themselves. The approach should be informative and genuine, not promotional. Avoid telling people to buy the token; instead, explain what the token is and let them decide.
The outcome has been rather depressing, to be honest. We haven't triggered a single token purchase or garnered any social attention. My X account is a ghost town, and all my socials across the board are as dry as sand in a furnace. Despite this, I refuse to surrender to failure. I believe it's only a matter of time until someone notices and gets aboard.
The #FDT hashtag has become extremely popular across all social networks. TikTok alone has seen millions of users adopt it, but they haven't connected the memecoin to the hashtag or the political motivation behind it. You can imagine the apprehension; the market is saturated with scams, and without a centralized Discord or Telegram group, that's the perception. The FDT team recognizes this and is taking the fully transparent and effective approach: honesty.
The path forward is truly dependent on those who find this message and decide to act. The organic approach means there is no marketing budget or team to spread the word. It falls on you, the reader, to share the narrative and the token's contract address. That is the only way to kickstart this project and prove that a truly decentralized, community-driven memecoin can succeed on its own merit.
Moving Forward: Keep FDT Alive
One could just say fuck it and toss in the towel. Cash out and toss the little bit of FDT I hold back in Moonshot and not think about this ever again. Or, I could just keep trudging along, pushing forward with FDT without the slightest bit of attention or interest from a single soul.
Into oblivion and beyond for a foolish and time wasting endeavor? Where would we be if Satoshi said that after the first few weeks of Bitcoin going live? I'm going to keep trying to get FDT noticed. Even if it never does.
