Among King Solomon’s proverbs we can find this one:
“Do you see a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings. Proverb 22:29”
Many researchers had pointed out that ancient languages had words and symbols that expressed whole concepts, which can not be translated into modern languages by single words, and offered different interpretations (see [1-2]). In this post we use the deciphering/interpretation given by Stephen K. Scott in [2].
Diligence is a learnable skill that combines: creative persistence, a smart-working effort rightly planned and rightly performed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner to attain a result that is pure and at the highest quality of excellence. See [2] p.12
We can modify it into the following method to solve problems in life.
Step 1. Describe your dreams.
Step 2. Set goals to reach your dreams.
Step 3. Lists steps required to reach your goals.
Step 4. Subdivide the steps into easy accomplished tasks.
Step 5. Develop time table to accomplish the tasks.
Step 6. Execute the tasks according to the time table.
Now, we consider an example of how to apply this method to problems in life.
Alice is the oldest child. She has two younger brothers, who constantly argue with each other and sometimes it results in violent actions. Parents blame her as the oldest for this calamity and Alice dreams to stop this some day. She dreams also to save some money and travel all over the world.
One day she found [2] and decided to use the described method to solve her problems.
Step1. Dream 1: Travel all over the world.
Dream 2: Stop violent rivalry between her brothers.
Step 2. Goal 1: Find an additional source of income.
Goal 2: Find a method to stop the violent rivalry.
After some searches on internet Alice find a game of friendly arbitrage (see [3-5]) and she decided to use it on the step 3.
Step 3. Use friendly arbitrage [3-5] to reach both goals.
Step 4. Task 1: Propose the game (friendly arbitrage) to the brothers and get them agreed to obey the rules. Task 2: Contact friends and relatives and invite them to participate in the game. Task 3: Each day play the game on events on which the brothers have disagreements.
Step 5. Alice develops time table to accomplish the tasks.
Step 6. Alice executes the plan according to the time table.
Upon executing the plan, Alice received additional monthly income of $2,000 and stopped violent rivalry between the brothers. After six months, Alice had enough money in savings to start travel to different places all over the world.
Now, she travels all over the world and manages, remotely, friendly arbitrage games to keep brothers peaceful.
In the next post we consider a simple way to determine if you are in a recession.
