Would there be life on Earth without Jupiter?

Would there be life on Earth without Jupiter?

By Benedetto Nicolai | A.Science | 7 Jun 2022

Jupiter is the first gaseous planet by distance from the sun and is also the largest in the entire solar system. Jupiter has a diameter of about 142,000 km and a distance from the sun of about 700,000 km. The planet has the beauty of 72 satellites and also has a small ring system. But why is Jupiter so important to the Earth? According to many scholars, the gas giant plays a fundamental role in the existence of life on our planet. The planet's gravity has allowed the deviation of many bodies, such as comets, towards the interior of the solar system. In this sense, one could consider Jupiter as a "shield" but, according to other scientists, the planet would be a deleterious element at the same time, because it would attract a huge number of particles towards the center of the solar system, together with Saturn.
