Okay, so you have now started to play Alien Worlds.
Click that "Mine" button
Click that "Claim" button
You now have a little bit of TLM that can be converted into a little bit of WAX
But to buy decent mining tools you may want to put in some of your own money. And to do that most people buy WAX via an exchange.
WAIT - Before you do, don't use BitFinex!!!
Yes, that's right, please don't use BitFinex.
I had a little unexpected windfall of £40 that I wanted to put into WAX. My "go to" way of getting money into Crypto is via Binance.
My "go to" way of getting WAX from Alien Worlds and into other Crypto is WAX -> Kucoin (no charge) ; trade WAX to XLM ; XLM -> Binance (very little withdrawl fees). Then I can use Binance to trade XLM to any other crypto or fiat type.
So my assumption was that doing this in reverse would be a cheap way to move the money around.
NO - it would cost me 30 WAX (out of 360 WAX) using KuCoin. This is just under c. 10% of the total amount and I felt it was far too much.

Google Time !!!
I was sure that there was a better way to transfer from an exchange into the WAX network.
Mr Google told me that BitFinex had a very low fee (c. 3.5 WAX, instead of 30 WAX from KuCoin).
Great - let's open up an account then. Relatively easy, the normal security process of emails and 2FA protocols. Now I could start.
So, after trading from WAX to USDT to XLM in KuCoin, I moved XLM to BitFinex. In BitFinex I then traded XLM to USD to WAX.
Great... let's hit the "withdraw" button. WRONG. Currently withdrawals are unavailable.

Did I make a mistake? Nope - I checked the BitFinex fee structure and it said that WAX fees for withdrawal were 3.75 WAX. Assumption being that you are then allowed to withdraw it when you have it.

Have I lost my money?
No - I have mostly lost just time and pride. About about $0.015 that is left in my Bitfinex account.
I transfered in c. 115 XLM. The markets changed a little and I transfered out 116 XLM. But there were the normal trading fees etc that would have taken a bit of "dust" money from the transactions.
It was the futile endeavour that really annoyed me though.
And I still haven't worked out the cheapest way to move crypto in the WAX network!
If any of you have some good ideas, please let me know in the comments section. Thank you!
