What Lies Ahead in 2022 for Origin Materials?

It's not unusual for most companies to be relatively silent on the PR front in the final month of the year. In what comes to be a light news December for Origin Materials, one has to dig pretty deep to find any new developments and speculation.

It appears that co-CEO Rich Riley was in attendance at a conference with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste in New York, where investors discussed:

Recall that in September, the company joined the Alliance. Link here.

"The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) is an industry-founded and funded non-governmental and non-profit organization based in Singapore. Founding members include BASF, Chevron Phillips Chemical, ExxonMobil, Dow Chemical, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings, Proctor & Gamble and Shell."

While Origin Materials has yet to be added to any ESG-related funds, it certainly has potential to be. As a self-proclaimed "carbon-negative materials company," it has all the makings to be a favorite green tech stock.

As 2021 comes to a close, I look to what 2022 may have in store for Origin Materials:
- Completion of construction on O1 plant in Sarnia, Ontario
- Startup and commissioning of O1
- Additional partnership announcements
- Announcement of successful development of new materials
- Site selections of O2 and O3
- New customer commitments
- Licensing agreements to accelerate revenue generation

Hurdles that may derail progress:
- Existing customers withdrawing from offtake agreements/capacity reservations
- O1 construction delays
- Unforseen isues in scaling up OM tech platform

Officially, here's what the company has told us to expect:

Unofficially, Landon - a Twitter source on the scene, resident of Sarnia, on O1 construction progress:

As I previously wrote about, Jim Cramer of Mad Money gave Origin Materials a fairly ringing endorsement (especially for a pre-revenue de-SPAC). Worth it for "half the price of a deli sandwich" he said. Wall Street analysts seem to agree:
