Take a page from the Ramones' playbook

Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, 2022 has offered nothing but choppiness in financial markets. Whether trading or hodling, no one has pulled up their portfolio and been able to withhold and expletive or two. Playing either end of the trade has been risky thus far.

I was quite surprised to see that in March my portfolio returned 7% but that was mostly thanks to a large position in Origin Materials (NASDAQ: ORGN) which had taking a shellacking in February. It's all relative, and it's tough to just say "no sweat."

But going forward, taking the long view, I see it that now is a great time to buy solid companies at a discount. By now, I mean in the next 12-24 months. Business without a strong foundation of fundamentals have been exposed. As Warren Buffett famously said, "Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked."

So you just have to tune out all the noise and craziness that's going to flutter about for the next few years ala the Ramones here:

Keep focused on time horizons, goals, and risk tolerance.
