What's the most valuable Wii U game? Aside from limited editions of Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8, the next in line is a titled called Devil's Third.

It's a slasher game that was developed for the Wii U by Valhalla Game Studios.

So why is the game so valuable? That's where the story gets a bit complicated. Devil's Third was originally suppose to be an Xbox 360 exclusive title. The game's developer, Valhalla, had a partnership with Microsoft Studios but that collapsed and the game was dropped. Subsequently, the developers joined forces with THQ, to bring the game to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. In another stroke of bad luck, THQ was unable to publish Devil's Third due to their 2013 bankruptcy. After another series of dead-ends and failed partnerships, Valhalla then approached Nintendo, who agreed to publish the game as a Wii U exclusive.
At the E3 2014 event, it was announced that Devil's Third would be coming to the Wii U. The title was first released in Japan, Europe, and Australia in August 2015. Nintendo of America initially announced that the game would not be published for a North American release, stating that they had "lost faith" in the title, but then backtracked that decision and announced the game would be released in December 2015. No advance copies were sent out to game journalists. GameStop only received 420 copies of the game for sale in their online store, which quickly sold out. All in all, it is believe that only 3,000 copies made it to store shelves in North America. The stock shortage was not explained at the time, and vendors were simply forced to say the game was out of stock. Nintendo of America pulled the plug on Devil's Third, mostly due to negative game reviews and due to the fact that the Wii U was coming to the end of its life.
Devil's Third remains one of the most valuable Wii U titles, due to its rarity. If you've got the money, there are dozens of copies available for sale via eBay:
