Attracting interest and establishing social relationships between girls and boys require the same characteristics as the establishing of relationships at any age. Attention should be given to bodily cleanliness and neatness. Dressing with taste and modesty are important. A cheerful and positive disposition should be maintained, no one enjoys a gloomy person. Courtesy and consideration are not outdated. Each should be willing to listen to what the other says and not dominate the conversation.

Smoking and drinking do not attract the right kind of friends. They may attract companions but not the kind that one would want to marry. Profanity is not beautiful, nor does it show maturity. It is prohibited by the word of God and reflects a lack of moral sensitivity, intelligence, and christian character. Even slang expressions should be avoided. A person is known by his words. Jesus said "those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart. That is, words reveal a person's inner character and being. A person will attract the kind of persons that he portrays himself to be.
