By RealSociology | Retire by 50 | 10 Dec 2022

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the River Nymph from the water splinter...

This is a useful relatively cheap mana card at level one with one magic damage, two speed, three health and one of my favourite abilities: cleanse.

The battle below features a Level 1 River Nymph chipping in to a victory....

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Valnamor

  1. Lord A - remains one of my fave tanks
  2. River Nymph - in P2 because of relatively high health
  3. Ice Pixie - a good magic damage card for the mana
  4. Guardian - for heal
  5. Coral Wraith - nice snipe with V.
  6. Albatross - sneak soak.

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - My coral wraith takes out my opponent's ice pixie with that dirty magic sneak attack, nice!
  • Round 2 - I take out my opponent's tank, nice!
  • Round 3 - And my opponent's swimmer thing
  • Round 4 - It's all over - his squid goes down.

I ended up six for six!

How important was The River Nymph?

Combined with Valnamor's plus one magic buff she was awesome for the mana, but equal weight with the pixie I'd say.

And TBH I think the sniping wraith played a more significant role along with Lord A.

Final Thoughts: River Nymph - worth buying?

100% YES - especially once you get up to max level - 3 buffs and 2 magic damage for 4 mana is a MUST!

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
