Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Magi of Chaos

By RealSociology | Retire by 50 | 9 Oct 2022

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the neutral magi of chaos

This is a useful neutral card at Level 1, starting out with 2 magic damage and a decent high health, but relatively low speed and relatively high on the mana with a cost of 6.

The battle below features a Level 1 Soul Strangler chipping in to a victory....

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - That earth magic dude for plus one magic!

  1. Mycellic Slipswan - for taunt with high health and decent magic attack
  2. Fungus Fiend - in case of blast, handy 0 mana card
  3. Kenjo - not really sure why TBH on reflection, 2 mana!
  4. Magi of Chaos - the main feature card and worth it for the high magic damage
  5. Khmer Princes - a useful low mana card for the plus one magic damage with this summoner

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - I draw first blood taking out my opponent's Living Lava!
  • Round 2 - My Magi takes out the radiated scorcher, and then the Slipswan takes out the hireling, then goes down, Khmer takes out the Striker
  • Round 3 - with only one card left standing it's all over for my opponent - I lose my fiend but he's all out shortly after!

How important was The Magi?

He certainly played his part, with his (buffed) 3 magic damage taking out my opponent's Radiated Scorcher in one hit!

I could have played him higher up the field but I opted for two other second tanks in favour to keep this high damage card in action for as long as possible.

Final Thoughts: Magi of Chaos - worth buying?

I think so - this is a relatively cheap neutral card with high magic damage, and very useful for those mid to high mana battles for sure.

And at Max level he gets 4 magic damage which is massive higher health and oppress, so that's all Nice!

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
