Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: DiemonShark

Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: DiemonShark

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the DiemonShark from the Water Splinter...

While heavy on the mana, with a relatively high cost of 8, this card has very decent shields and health, and decent speed, OK two damage and trample off the bat....

Fairly nice!

The battle below features a Level 1 DiemonShark

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 29
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Valnamor

  1. Diemonshark - a perfectly reasonable tank!
  2. Torrent Fiend - a 0 mana snipe and opportunity sink
  3. Scavo Hireling - to repair the Shark's shields!
  4. Ruler of the Seas - my main damage card with blas!
  5. Mershalli Guardian - to heal the shark tank
  6. Coral Wraith - sneak and sneak sink, great damage for the mana!

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action [click here](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_cc8e6206d23ad1bb717d717b7396b4aa&ref=revise.leo!

  • Round 1 - My wraith takes out my opponent's back row monster
  • Round 2 - the wraith strikes again taking out my opponent's Scavo, but then goes down himself.
  • Round 3 - My Ruler of the Seas takes out the Windeku and the Silent Shavi, both already weakened from previous rounds!
  • Round 4 - I pound my opponent's remaining card
  • Round 5 - it's all over I'm 5/6 standing at the end!

How important was The DiemonShark?

He certainly played his part as a battle-lasting tank!

And he worked especially well against the thorns of my opponents' tank with his plentiful shields.

Although he did require the repair from the Scavo Hireling for max utility!

The Coral Wraith was also important as he took out the sniper in round 1, and he who lands the first blow is often victorious!

And of course Valnamor played his part - without the plus one health the Wraith would have been taken out R1!

And the RoS was a main player dealing massive damage with blast.

So the Shark did OK but only as part of a wider team effort!

Final Thoughts: DiemonShark - worth buying?

This is a relatively cheap rare card and by max level it's a pretty decent beast....

You get great health, and a nice combo of buffs, but the speed needs to be higher for this to be a must buy!

This isn't top of my list to purchase, but I can see it being useful in a 'melee monsters attack from any position' ruleset with higher mana battles!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

Blogging about Sociology and Extreme Early Retirement

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
