Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Cursed Windeku Face Off!

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Cursed Windeku from the Death Splinter...

This is an extremely useful mid mana card - for 6 mana you get a very healthy nine health, two melee damage, thorns and reasonable speed of three, all at Level 1!

You've probably seen this card a LOT in the lower levels because it's a bot standard for the death Splinter, meaning 95% of accounts are going to be playing it when the Death Splinter comes up!

The battle below features a Level 1 Cursed Windeku facing off against another!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 15
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Thaddius

  1. Cursed Windeku
  2. Corpse Fiend
  3. Undead Priest
  4. Death Elemental
  5. Furious Chicken

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - I take out my opponent's Death Elemental thanks to weaken, I lose my chicken
  • Round 2 - I take out my opponent's Windeku, nice, and then his Scorpion takes himself out on the Windeku's thorns.

How important was The Cursed Windeku?

Well, very important due to the effect of thorns, but this battle also shows the crucial importance of the other supporting cards.

Especially important was the Undead Priest's weaken and my sneak soak, the Chicken, which allowed me to have absolute superiority over my opponent's shallower line up.

Final Thoughts: Cursed Windeku - worth buying?

At Level one it's a must as this is a bot standard - you probably won't win against 95% of accounts (the bot accounts) if you don't have one!

Higher up the levels it's also pretty tasty - with a massive 11 health, four damage and two decent buffs - heal and slow, very nice!

So I'd personally put this this high up my acquire list!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
