Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets... Little League!

By RealSociology | Retire by 50 | 9 Jun 2024

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Little League in which you can only select monsters for battle with 4 mana or less.

Little League general strategy....

For starters you often have to know which low mana cards are the bestest!

This is one of those rulesets that tends to favour the money cards... there are some very tasty low mana legendaries that are really worth their weight, for example, such as Queen mycelia.

If the mana allows it it's usually worth going for the full 28 points including the summoner, although there are some wicked 3 mana cards too!

I often find shields very useful with this as there aren't that many terrific low mana cards with magic.

Little League battle exemplar

The battle below shows a battle featuring the Dragon Splinter in a decent win!

Mana and rulesets:

  • 40
  • Little League Only!

Summoner - Darla!

  • Cerbrus - one of the best 4 mana tanks
  • Manitcore - REACH
  • Beatle Queen - 2 magic damage, NICE!
  • Venari Spellsmith - 1 magic damage
  • Spark Pixies - for the speed!
  • Fire Spitter - awaesome damage for the mana!

The battle...

  • round 1 - I take out the Cruel Sethropd, good start!
  • round 2 - straight off the bat I take out the Creeping Seaweed, that's the advantage of speed! I lose Cerberous (ouch!) but take out OOZE.
  • round 3 - I take out the archer and then it's all over as my opponent is only left with ranged.

Final battle analysis

My opponent had tooo many ranged attacks for a little league battle, these tend to go fast and he paid the price!

Little Leauge final thoughts...

Don't play too many ranged monsters!

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
