Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Even Stevens....

By RealSociology | Retire by 50 | 28 May 2023

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Even Stevens in which one can only use even numbered monsters!

Even Stevens general strategy....

Well there's not too much to say, other than opt for the best splinter possible that has the best even mana monsters available, water springs to mind as in the example below...

EVENS carnage battle exemplar

The battle below shows a battle featuring the Water splinter in a comprehensive victory!

Mana and rulesets: 45 mana and melee only...

Summoner Kitty - for the awesome!

  • Chain Golem - a solid melee tank
  • Djin Chawalaa - Second tank
  • Deep lurker - just the law in evens and melee!
  • Promo thing - well it's new!
  • Cocatrice - opportunity sink
  • Kraken- to soak any sneaky sneak and opportunity attacks.

The battle...

  • round 1 - I take out my opponent's water fiend - good start!
  • round 2 - we exchange blows for no losses
  • round 3 - I take out the monk!
  • round 4 - I take out the Gargoyle.
  • rounds 5 and 6 - we trade blows for no losses
  • round 7 - sneak finally takes out the Elven defender!
  • round 8 - I take out the Daemon Shark
  • round 10 - it's game over!

Final battle analysis

My opponent chose decent cards but I just over powered him!

Even Stevens final thoughts....

TBH I think you need a number cruncher to simply figure out what splinters have the best cards for even mana, otherwise the ruleset makes little difference to ordinary play on its own!

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
