Sir Richard Branson, after setting up his own university and, in fact, an unprecedented private aerospace company, also announces that his company will move to Bitcoin.

At least one person has already used virtual currencies to secure their seat on Virgin Galactic's first commercial flight this week.

Virgin Galactic is investing heavily (successfully) in space tourism.

To guarantee a place on the ship, the cost is a measly $2,500.

On his blog, Branson even explains that one of the passengers, a person from other country, bought a ticket using virtual currencies.

And the eccentric businessman expects many other people to do the same thing.

According to Branson: "Bitcoin is not yet formally recognized by governments as a currency, but with some regulation I hope it will become widely accepted," he wrote.

The first commercial flight is scheduled for August 2024. For now, the flight is planned for select weekend "astronauts" who, firstly, have the health to perform the flight.

Remember that it is not the first company to accept currency as a form of payment. That's because a university in Cyprus has also announced that it will accept Bitcoins from its students, and online cheap airline CheapAir has also moved into the currency.
