on September 9th, 2015 I downloaded an app that would change how I paid for things with my phone. Since that day I have earned $333.91 of free money to use on apps, music, movies, anything on Google Play. The app is Google Opinion Rewards.
What the app does is sends you surveys every so often. When you answer the surveys you earn a little money. My surveys range from $0.10 to $0.77. The surverys I get are based on my phone's location history. I know... I know... how could I? Well I have thought about not letting Google track my location because they have enough of my information. But I am taking steps to reduce that in other ways and eventually I may turn location history off but at the time being Google is pretty crappy about where I have been anyways so it works out.
Every morning I go to work out. Next to my workout place there is a Kohls and a Ulta Beauty (among other places). Usually once every other day I will get a survey asking me if I have been to any of the following 5 places. 4 of them I usually have never heard of and 1 of them is usually Kohls or Ulta Beauty.
It asks me if I bought my items with my Debit Card, Credit Card, Cash or other means, of didn't buy anything at all. I never answer honestly because I don't wan't Google to know THAT much. It will then ask me if I have the receipt of the purchase and if I would take a picture of it with the app. I usually say I don't have the receipt (which is true). However the few times I have taken a picture of the receipt I do earn more for the survey. Then after those questions are answered Google gives me a few cents in the app.
With the rewards I have earned I have bought almost everything you can think of with it. I have purchased multiple movies, a few albums, premium apps, in app purchases. Anything in the Google Play store you can use your Google Rewards money for. You can also use it for reoccurring payments.
So take it from me, earn yourself some free money buy answering surveys. Google also has an option called Audience Measurement where they will send you equipment to put in your house and it will track your internet and TV habits.... but please don't do this.
The money you earn from the app expires after 1 year. So the $.30 you earn today will expire exactly a year from now. However when you make a purchase with your rewards it uses the oldest money first. So I have never ran into a problem of having my rewards expire. There is an app for iPhones as well. You will still earn Google Rewards and can use that rewards on Google Play website or their Google Play Music app, etc.
