I am not a poet and for sure I know it.
However, it is never a crime to rhyme
So it is time for me to give it a go even if the quality of my prose is low.
Sorry, I couldn't resist that, but it is a statement of truth and today I am going to endeavour to use some rhyming couplets to explore the theme, a theme which is dwelling in my mind frankly, a little bit too often. Don't worry, as I have said before and I will say again, I am a) too scared and b) to curious to see how the boys grow up to do anything stupid.
So here goes...
Death, oh death, if I dare to be so brave
I find myself asking what happens beyond the grave
Do we lie in permanent repose waiting for worms and rot
There is no heaven or hell - that is our lot
Or are the glories of heaven awaiting from afar
Somewhere way beyond the farthest star
Is hell a fiery price to pay
For how we lived each Earthly day
Or just maybe we get back on the wheel to see
What our next incarnation may be
Is there a glorious resurrection - a new body and a new hope
Or does such wishful thinking make me a dope!
Am I hopelessly naive to assume that death is the beginning of something new
Or should I wake up and change my view
Death, oh death should I dare to be so brave
To ask what lays beyond the grave
Please don't mark me for my poetic agility, it really is just a set of simple rhyming couplets. At least it is not free prose, which in my opinion is the domain of those writers who cannot write properly and so therefore they put anything out there using incorrect forms and call it poetry. There is no depth to this and I know full well there is no sophistication to this poem - in fact this paragraph is far more complex in its make up than everything that preceded it.
As always stay safe and well my friends
