This article is slightly tongue in cheek. I am sure you are familiar with Cryptonator. I will openly confess that he is one of my favourite bloggers on here and I absolutely love his avatar with oversized glasses. He is not aware that I am writing this post (but probably will be depending on how he accesses his feed), but I as you can see I am being complimentary and so there is definitely no harm in that. Please feel free to check him out for yourselves
BTW just a point to note before I carry on. Make sure that you are following your favourites, because I was surprised to see that I wasn't actually following him - even though I thought I was. Having said that PVM had a similar thing with me and there might be something in the algorithm that for some reason unfollows those you are following. The three of us (among others) have been around for a very long time in crypto terms and so naturally we do overlap a lot.
To my point, as you can see in my header image, Cryptonator has the tagline "I look like an expert."
So this was my experience yesterday. Let me explain.
Mama_Rah's parents came to visit from where they live a couple of hours away, with the express purpose of taking their grandchildren out for a long morning and thus giving Mama_Rah and me some time alone. It felt kind of weird, but nice too. As you know Mama_Rah and I are not necessarily in the best place, but given this respite we went out for coffee and cake and actually talked (which is infinitely nicer than being shouted at for little or no apparent reason). Then later on she, after we'd got home she began to ask me about how to use AI.
And this is the rub. Generally speaking I use AI only for image generation (eg my blazing sun destroying the Earth or the sad Paw Patrol Pups, just to name a couple), but for very little else. I must confess that I used it last week when a client asked me to define the difference between big and large. It wasn't a question I had ever (in 25 years) ever been asked before and as a native I naturally can differentiate when to use each one. The truth was that I couldn't answer on the spot and didn't want to spend a swathe of the session looking it up.
So I simply asked Bing (yes I am acquiring their Reward Points) and the first answer is always the Co-Pilot answer. I quickly scanned through it and was happy with what I read as I tested it in my mind, before sharing (I literally screen grabbed it) with my client. Nice usage in a spontaneous moment of AI. You must always exercise caution though because automated AI can be inaccurate.
So what's this all got to do with Mama_Rah?
What she wanted was to come up a weekly food schedule of healthy meals and so parallel, her on her computer and me on mine, I showed her how to access Co-Pilot as it is the easiest and then in mine I wrote a simple phrase as an example with full knowledge that she loves pasta.
"Please create seven healthy pasta-based recipes that can be made in 30 minutes or less"
She asked
"Create weekly food schedule"
The results were widely different. My answer was quite comprehensive and I got exactly what I asked for. On the other hand, Mama_Rah was asked a few questions. What kind of meals do you enjoy? Can I help you choose a vegetarian option etc.
So I told her that she needs to be more precise in her prompting, in fact the more precise the prompt the better the result. I remember PVM writing something similar recently on one of my posts about asking for realistic lighting and shade and I also vividly remember Cryptonator saying that AI pictures "have no soul". I am inclined to agree with him and it is with this in mind that I usually decide on the basis of "fit for purpose". I would suggest that I throw away 20% of my images because they do not meet the latter criteria.
So Mama_Rah had a bit of a go and started getting results and then she switched topics and asked about how to create an attractive and effective CV (resume) and again yielded some good results.
And it all started with me sharing the tiny little bit of knowledge I have with her and in her mind, just like Cryptonator I definitely "looked like an expert", irrelevant of the truth.
Just a bit of light fun for today.
And on that note, as always, please stay safe and well my friends
