It's amazing how people say things with do much accuracy online. I have seen so many posts here on Publish0x from people who are not analysts, saying things like "prepare for a 10 month bear run or "we're going down guys".
The thing is, if you listen to those people, you incessantly scare yourself, and inherently make predominantly worse decisions.
Those that have been calling for a miner sell off should have woken up from their slumber, because that should have happened at the $10k region. But it didn't.
Bitcoin is currently reading slightly below the weekly close, but far from the weekly open.
The question I aim to answer in this post is: "will miners sell on us?" Let's see why I don't think so, and with reasons.
I'm not going to tell you what the market would do tomorrow, because I don't know what it's going to do in the next second even. But we can try our luck at guessing with concrete evidence. So let's go!
Ok. So it's no longer new news that miners make up for millions of daily selling pressure in the market. They have to eat, pay for electricity and maintain their equipment, all to keep our internet money alive.
However, they rely on those rewards that just got slashed in half. This means that the cost of production remained the same, but the reward for production just got slashed in half.
Miners can either
- Go out of business and quit the game forever, or
- Reduce their cost of production
Method 2 would be the way to go, because it would allow for more miners to join the market. Assume you were mining 10 blocks a day, but because of the recent halving, you only mine 5. Well, another person can come in and mine the other 5, which increases the number of miners in the market. This would be great to protect against attacks in the future.
I believe that miners would go that route, because they've already invested so much into their rigs, and they saw this coming. To be honest, miners have weighed the earnings and cost for years to come(at least decent miners have), and have determined if it would be profitable 5 or 10 years from now.
Those are my reasons for why I think miners won't sell on us.
Another way this could go is that miners are actually waiting for ATH to sell and quit. That might also be valid for the argument against my premise. Again, I don't know. Only time would tell.
Thanks for reading my post guys. What do you think miners would do? Let me know down below!
