Well, I know you all saw this coming.
I joined the Publish0x platform in December 2019, after much persuasion from a friend. Before then, I was a writer at popular technology blog Neowin, before I quit there due to some issues.
If you read my blog frequently, you'd know that I am a student, and I'm almost done with my final year at school. I was making substantial money from Neowin(They pay an amazing $100, and you're allowed 5 posts a day. As you would know I exhausted all the posts a day, giving me a very decent $600 a week. This is because only senior editors are allowed to write on Sundays.)
I wrote on technology news and phone reviews. It was really boring at first, getting sent a phone and not being able to use it like a normal person. But with time, I warmed up to it.
During my last semester exams(early December), I quit working for Neowin(temporarily) because I needed more time to study, and having an average of 4000 words a post wasn't very fun.
I however completed the exams, and I had nice grades. But then, I was at a turning point: Where do I write now?
I was already making decent money trading cryptocurrencies, and I didn't need to write.
But I love expressing myself through words, and I absolutely love to earn money for doing just that.
A friend of mine, who was also in the same school had just discovered Publish0x and had tested it for a month. He had ascertained that it does pay, and he had about 2 of his posts absolutely blow up, with a little below $10 in tips. He wrote about 3 posts a day, and had an average of $0.70 on each post. This meant that he made a little below $15 a week, which isn't a lot of money, but on your own terms, it's pretty good. Plus, it's free money, and he also made money from tipping.
When he told me about Publish0x, I wasn't as excited as he thought I'd be. Remember, I was earning $600 a week from writing for Neowin. Why then would I lower my payment threshold just because they pay in crypto?
After about a week of constant disturbance and persuasion, I eventually caved in and joined the platform.
And boy has it been a ride!
I have had a lot of ups and downs on this platform. One of my posts recently crossed a milestone 6k+ views! This was epic to say the least, and the fact that it happened in a day is also insane. That post also is single handedly my most tipped post on this site, being just a few cents shy of $7.
I have also been able to get over 700 people to like what I write so much that they were actually persuaded to follow me to keep up with what I write. I hardly have 700 followers on Instagram!😂
I would say that I have enjoyed my experience here very much, despite the fact that I don't make nearly as much as I made on Neowin.
I love the editor of this site. I mostly type from my laptop, but when I do it from my phone, it's also enjoyable.
I also love that they pay out in very solid crypto projects. They don't have their own token so it's a lot more enjoyable knowing that you aren't a product.
There are some bad aspects though. There are a lot of trolls here.(but really, us there anywhere there aren't trolls online?)
One particular user actually followed my account, and kept on leaving really insulting comments under every post. Sometimes I ignored him, and sometimes I asked him why he was doing it, which only led to even more insults. I reported him about 8 times before I stopped seeing his comments. I'm pretty sure he's still around though, because every single one of my posts gets a downvote few seconds after it goes out.
That said ,the experience has been pretty pleasurable.
Which leads me on to the part you're probably waiting for: How much have I made?
Well, in the roughly 3 months I've been here, I have seen some very good success on a few posts. I was doing 5 posts a day before, just like on Neowin. But now, I have decided to do just 2 posts a day, because my school workload is much, coupled with the fact that I actively trade also.
Well, without wasting much more of your time, here is how much I've made in total:
BAT: Since the start, I have made about 600BAT tokens. At the current market price (a pretty sour one to be sure), that's about $127. That figure actually ramped up because I previously won a Publish0x writing contest, that paid me $20 in BAT. So less the contest money, I have made about $107 in 3 months. Not bad at all for free money.
DAI: This is my lowest earned coin on this platform. In fact, it took me two weeks to make the minimum withdrawal amount in DAI, while I made that of BAT the day I started!
I have earned about 5.2DAI since my stay here. This is roughly $5.20 since DAI is a stable coin.
Lastly, Hydro. Now I don't know what to do with Hydro yet, so I haven't ever withdrawn my Hydro tokens. This is a safety measure against (unlikely) hacks, and because the price fluctuates like crazy. I have earned about 15000 hydro, which is equivalent to $8 at current market value.
All together, my earnings have come to $140.2. Again, not a lot of money compared to Neowin, but it's still decent, and I can work at my own terms.
I have however taken back the job at Neowin, because my workload had really decreased now. I will try to be consistent here, as I really love and believe in this platform
Thanks for reading once more!
Ps: If you'd love to support me and the whole MadMaxx thing I have going here, consider using Changelly with my link. It's an instant cryptocurrency exchange, and one that I absolutely recommend. Use this link. Thanks .
