Everywhere you turn, there are projects claiming to decentralise every single thing you can think of.
Decentralised movie streaming sites. Decentralised cooking guides. Decentralised games. Decentralised this. Decentralised that.
But do we really need all those decentralised stuff? Is it so important?
There are a few legit projects that we can't live without. Such as decentralised banking and finance. If Blockchains are the future, then we need those two things in place.
Decentralised cloud storage is also amazing. Ditto for decentralised and smart contracts, which I personally believe are the future.
Decentralised exchanges are also a very interesting idea, and something I would definitely use if and when they have fiat gateways.
But Decentralised games? What is wrong with regular games?
If we could earn tokens from playing these games, it would be fun. But most of these games actually need you to PAY a certain token before you can actually move forward.
A good use of Decentralised gaming would be to disguise a token miner as a game. So as you play the game, you're secretly mining a certain Cryptocurrency instead of paying. This will be much better, but apparently no one has thought in that direction.
If we want blockchain technology to be widely adopted and taken seriously, then all these decentralised projects should really stop popping out of the woodwork.
Most of these projects are just scams in disguise anyway.
Decentralisation is a great thing, and it shouldn't be abused the way it is being abused.
Some of these projects are downright useless, and have no scalable future.
Just typing "Blockchain" into Google search brings up these posts from big sites like Forbes and The balance saying that Blockchains are useless. The reason they're saying all this is because of these worthless projects.
I believe that should all these useless and meaningless projects stop popping up from nowhere, then Blockchains and blockchain technology would be more widely accepted.
