TLDR:
- Yago encourages questions for a Q&A video
- DLLR lending pool vote scheduled for April 11th
- Debate on creating a Zero fork on Ethereum using WBTC as collateral
- Alternative idea: Bridge for WBTC to RBTC conversion and Ethereum integration
Introduction
In this issue of The Sovryn Chronicles, we’ll discuss Yago’s recent engagement in community chats, the upcoming vote on a DLLR lending pool, and the ongoing debate about creating a Zero fork on Ethereum using WBTC as collateral.
Yago’s Q&A Initiative
Yago has been actively participating in community chats and encourages members to submit their questions through this form: https://forms.gle/E6AXYoo86gxV8tcy8. User @LegosiWolff created the form and is hosting a giveaway for participants. Yago plans to create a Q&A video to answer the questions or share his thoughts.
DLLR Lending Pool
Vote Core team members John Light and Ororo have proposed a vote to add a lending pool for DLLR. The vote is scheduled for April 11th. The lending pool is expected to increase demand for DLLR and help with supply absorption. It is anticipated that the vote will pass unanimously.
Zero Fork Debate
There is an ongoing debate within the community about whether Sovryn should create a fork of Zero on Ethereum using WBTC as collateral. While some users believe this could increase adoption and tap into the larger WBTC market, others argue that it goes against Sovryn’s core values as a decentralized financial institution on Bitcoin.
This fork would also create two separate DLLRs with different collaterals (RBTC and WBTC), adding confusion to the protocol.
Alternative Idea:
WBTC to RBTC Bridge User OneDigit proposed a hypothetical scenario in which Sovryn could create a bridge allowing users to send WBTC, convert it to RBTC, use Zero to issue DLLR, and bridge the DLLR to the Ethereum chain. This solution aligns with Sovryn’s values, maintains a single DLLR, and taps into WBTC’s liquidity. The feasibility, resources, and timeline required for this idea are still unknown.
Conclusion
Yago’s Q&A initiative, the upcoming DLLR lending pool vote, and the debate on creating a Zero fork on Ethereum have sparked engaging discussions within the Sovryn community. The alternative idea of a WBTC to RBTC bridge holds potential for expanding Bitcoin adoption across other chains.
